starting problem
Hey guys my bro and I are trying to figure this out and i haven't had much luck searching on here for it. Anyways the problem is when trying to start the car. The starter will turn the motor, but everyonce and awhile it will crank and sound like a dead spot and skip over, but by that time it's flooded the motor.
Now i'm not sure if this is a starter problem, i've also been told it may be a coil problem.
2nd problem comes at about 6000rpm, it's almost like a shudder or a miss, it's not boostcut, now could this also be related to a posible coil problem??
Car in question is a 88 10ae

It might be related to your coil problem.
Check to see if the engine is getting spark. How long has it been since you've changed the sparkplugs/spark wires? Also, do a compression check just to be safe.

I second the compression check.
How old are the plug wires? Plugs?
Check the coils per the FSM...
Check your grounds also...
I don't understand this "dead spot and skip over..."...Is it akin to a couple of teeth missing on the flywheel, or just the weird flooding sounds?
