Starting or NOT

i have a 1988 Mazda RX7 and well it only has 37k miles on it and just today... i tryed to start and it cranked great and gas vapor came out of the exhaust and well i CANT find out how to test the coil pack and f***in autozone doesnt know what the specs are on the ohms well i think that i NEEEEEEEEEDDDD someones help

flooding? i don't think i've ever heard of a coil pack failing...

!WOH! CALM DOWN! :p

Your engine might be flooded. Pull the EGI fuse under the hood and crank the engine for about 10 seconds wide open throttle. Then put the fuse back in and try starting.

I doubt it is your coilpacks.

Pull a spark plug wire. With your left hand touch exposed metal on the engine or frame (ground). Place spark plug wire on tip of tongue and have friend crank engine. Your tongue will tell you if you have spark.

Alternative method, attach timing gun pickup to each of the plug wires, one at a time, and crank and see if timing gun light blinks. If it does, you got spark and your engine is probably flooded. 37k miles is too low of mileage for anything to go bad. If car has not been run in a while, its possible your fuel is bad and gummed up an injector or two.
