Only one LARGE wire goes on the solenoid. It is the one from the battery positive terminal. The small wire goes on the blade terminal on the solenoid.
The LARGE wire from the battery negative post goes to the LONG bolt on the starter. If you want you could put it to any of the bellhousing attach bolts, but it was made to go to the LONG bolt that holds the starter on.
The solenoid has two large posts on it. One is already occupied by a wire coming from the internals of the starter. NOTHING else goes on that post. You put the batterys positive wire on the OTHER large post on the solenoid, which should have nothing on it right now, being out of the car.
It's WISE to disconnect one of the cables from the battery when working on the starter.
