starter trouble
i parked my 86 rx7, went inside. i came back out and put 12volts to the starter. and nothing happens. no cranking. there is power, the clock and radio turn on, the climate fan blows as powerful as if the car where running. which fuses/relays should i check? any chance my starter is toast??

Sounds like a sticky starter solinoid. Replace ASAP. Did you put 12 volts to the starter, or twelve volts to the starter solinoid? The battery cable runs to the solinoid. The starter motor runs to the other large terminal on the solinoid. Bottom line is, did you bypass the solinoid. If you bypassed the solonoid, and hitting the starter with a hammer worked for you, your starter possably has bad brushes or a flat spot on the armature.
