Question Starter Question!?

Ok guys I'm going to get my "new" starter tomorrow,probably a rebuilt or a junkyard one.My question is what starter can I get?? Do I have to get another 87 starter,or will any gen.2 starter work? Also about how much should this run??I dont wanna get ripped off!!

I paid $30 shipped and am selling it for $35 shipped. Perfect shape. I would sell you mine, but it has already been bought!!! Good luck! Make sure it looks clean. Hook it up to a 12v and see if the solenoid clicks, and the brushes spin.

OK,........but can I use a starter from any gen.2?? or does it have it to be the same series??

I am under the impression that it is the same for all generations. Hayne's Manual says no different, but we all know how unreliable those can be...I say they are all the same.

if i were you, id buy a mazda starter. Ive had some bad luck with auto parts store rebuilts. It really sucks when the starter doesnt work too. The mazda ones seem to last the longest, and sometimes you get lucky and get a new one for the price of a rebuilt.

Any 2 gen NA five speed one. NO automatics, and NO turbos.
