Starter problems...

ok my starter and solenoid caught fire and my solenoid is all melted and ****. i wonder if my starter is ok ? do i need to buy a whole new starter+solenoid. or can i just buy a new solenoid. **** i cant even get the old one off, its on there damn tight. and what is a good price for a starter ?

This is rare. It dosen't take much to spin a rotary. You may have had a loose connection that heated up?
Are you up on jackstands? It shouldn't be that hard.

They run around 80-120. That's for a remanufactured solenoid/starter combo. Have you tried using a breaker bar yet?
