Starter is a no go

Like some of my other threads, simple is better.

Car is an '88

Was an automatic

Car converted with an S5 manual gearbox

Trigger wire run from the starter to the ignition switch (Thick black wire, red stripe).

It won't start...I've got power, but the starter will not engage as if there's still an interlock in place.

I didn't bother to install a clutch interlock.

According to the S5 FSM, there's a 'neutral switch' on the S5 transmission...but that should have no bearing on my car considering it's an S4 and has never had one of them...Right? It's not connected to anything.

After hours of searching, I came across some information.

There is a four prong gang plug you must jumper... I used the FSM and bridged the two appropriate prongs...the car still won't start, but the starter does attempt turning over. I used an unknown condition starter instead of the one I knew worked but had been badly overheated...so I am going to swap in the known good starter tomorrow and see if that remedies the problem.

However, since jumpering the interlock....my reverse lights come on with the ignition and STAY on. Gotta kill that too.
