Starter motor problem

So I´ve relocated my battery and are running all new wires to the starter, fuse box and alternator. I´ve connected the battery cable to the left side of the starter solenoid and the "starter wire" to the right side. And of course the ignition switch (black/green) wire to the middle pin.

My battery is grounded in the chassi.

The problem is i cant get the starter to turn over. All i hear is a click in the main relay, the one sitting by the brake booster and ignition coil not the one in the fuse box.

I´ve tried connecting the ignition switch wire to the battery but nothing happens. If i connect the left and right connection on the soleniod the starter spins but it does not pop out and spins the flywheel.

Also, when just having the power on ( i have an power switch right by the battery) The starter solenoid gets real hot.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks
/Kalle

Sounds like perhaps the solenoid might be stuck back and this is why it won't pop out. This could also be the reason for the heat up. Someone correct me if I am wrong please.

Did you try tapping it with a hammer when you can hear it spinning or before it spins up? Maybe this will jog it loose.

The thing is I cant even get the starter to spin when turning the key. It only spins when i hotwire it. All that happens to me is that it clicks in the main relay.

Now i´ve changed the starter motor and hooked everything up. As soon as I turned the battery stitch on the starter started cranking the engine. I thought it was a grounding problem and connected a extra ground wire and now it doesnt crank at all.

Only when i hotwire it will work. The only electricals that is connected now is from the battery to starter and fuse box. Do I need to connect anything else for the starter to work? Dash and everything is out of the car.
