starter doesnt turn after installing rebuild
I cant figre out why my starter wont crank now, everything was fine when I took out the engine , now it doesnt work , so I think its something simple like a wiring problem , but I dont know what to look for,
My main fuse is good
there is 12 v power to my starter and the ground appears to be good
the s terminal is plugged in , I'm about to go check to see if its getting proper voltage
aside from that I dont know what else to check,
there is a switch for the clutch I hear , but ever since I've owned the car , I've never needed to step on the clutch to start the car

Check for the signal from the ignition switch. The smallest gauge wire on the starter. Hook a test light and see if B+ is at said wire when key is in cranking position. Or jump that terminal to B+ and verifiy starter is OK.

If the headlights go up and down, but when you turn the key to ON you do not get the idiot lights to come om, and the starter does not turn when going to Start, then you probably lost your power to the ignition switch. See if the single black wire and single black connector below the engine fuse fox is or is not still connected togeter. It feeds the ignition switch.

I found no power at the starter signal wire with the key on, so I traced the wire back and found it unplugged in the harness about half way , looks like someone put in a quick disconnect that I didnt see , and it came undone when I was messin with the harness thanks you guys are great for helpin me out

Same problem...
Hey guys,
Im having the same problem with an 87 Turbo II. I got my car in pieces and Im putting it back together now and ran into a little problem.
Im not getting any voltage to the Ign. switch.
The headlights and courtesy lights work.
There is Batt. Voltage at the Starter and Alt.
I verified voltage to and from the 80amp fuse. Are there any connections from where it leaves the fuse and ends at the ignition switch?
According to the wiring diagram there is a spot where it branchs off to the circuit breakers for the heater and rear defroster.
I guess my next step is to look for that connector (by the interior fuse box??) and if that turns out good rip into the harness.
Well I guess I could just check for continuity between the 80amp fuse and the black wire on the Ignition switch.
Am I on the right track?
Thanks,
Mark

The ignition sw power arrives at the ignition switch on a pure black wire. PUll the pigtail connectors apart and find the pure black wire coming to the pigtail. It should have 12vdc.
That wire has but one connector b/t it and the ENGINE BAY fuse box. That connector is about six inches below the ENGINE BAY fuse box.
Ah! ENGINE BAY, not engine fuse box. ENGINE BAY FUSE BOX.
