Starter Cut Relay
Part of my previous problem.
I was looking at page 15-8 in the 87 workshop manual and I see there is a starter cut relay (#22). I do not have this installed yet. When I painted my enginie bay I remove everything. I do not know where it goes of what wire(s) it attaches to, let alone what it looks like.
Does anyone have a picture of this thing. I think it is by the main relay near the brake booster.
Thanx
Michael

Bad Starter
If I jumped the two studs on the starter with a large screwdriver and nothing happened, would'nt this indicate a bad starter or solenoid?
I ahve 11.9 volts at the starter
I hope it is really this simple.
Thanx

****I do not have it the.*******
I can't make heads or tails out of that sentence.
Are you saying the starter won't work??????????
What the deal is the black/white wire in that jumpered socket goes directly to your starter. The small blade on the starter. Small wire.
Also in that jumpered plug is a black/green wire. It comes from the interlock switch on your clutch. If the interlock switch on the clutch pedal is disfunctional, then the starter won't start. The green/black wire puts 12v on the black/white wire which in turn makes the starter solenoid engage.
Do this. Pull the jumper wire/plug off. Find the black/white wire. Jumper 12v from the battery to that black/white wire. The starter should start and the car will run your foot over if you left the car in gear.
IF that happens, then I suggest the interlock switch on the clutch pedal is bad or not there. If it is there, remove the plug on the switch and jumper the black/red and black/green wires together. Now turn the key to START. If the car starts, then the interlock switchi is busted.
