TX Starter Clicks then no electrical power

I've been searching the forums for some insight here but couldn't find anything similar. I recently bought an 87 n/a and every thing seemed to be fine. The first issue I had was the battery that was in it wouldn't hold a charge so i replaced it and everything seemed fine until today. I got in this morning ran a couple of errands and went to work and everything seemed fine. After dinner I went out to start her up and all I get is a click and then I lose all electoral power. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect it I can repeat the process but the car won't start. All I get is a click. Any help here would be appreciated.

Just a thought, but how long did the replacement battery work? Was it months or was it a few days as this info will be viewed as somewhat important by those who read your post.

I had this issue. It was the relay under the ignition coil by the firewall. I replaced the relay and rewired the little wire that goes to the starter. No more click!

The battery is literally a couple of days old. I will check the relay and the grounds. Thanks

Good news!! Changed the battery terminals and all is well. A nice $7 fix.
