Starter Brushes For 86 rx7-13b

Took the starter apart today and two of the brushes were wore out and hung up on the tension springs .. I went to NAPA and the guy says they only have brush sets for standard transmission cars and not for auto so I sneak around and have a look at his books .. The brushes listed looked exactly like mine including the spring plate ( they do have very good pictures of parts ) and said it fit from 86 to 92 Mazda including about a dozen different vehicles for the same years .. courier datsun etc. Is it just the mounting housing that is different and not the brushes for the auto or std. or did I order the wrong stuff..

The reason they said NO auto brushes is that the Auto starter is like a Turbo starter.
the TII and the N/A starters are different because of the flywheel size.
If you can get the STD starter brushes, you are pointed in the right direction.
I on the other hand would have bought a used starter. You could get one for like 30 bucks on the forum.
Good Luck CANUCK!..Styx!~

The brushes (and entire back cap IIRC) between the NA and turbo starters are the same; i've swapped them before to use a good set of NA brushes on the turbo starter housing & rotor.

Thanks,, yea I know I could buy one cheap but the shipping to Canada would be 50 bucks or more .. The rest of the starter looks real nice I just cut the armature on the lathe a tad and it should be good.. the brushes were actually stuck in the brush holder .. Thanks for the good answers styx and topless
