started progressively slower now won't start at all
Was just about to go run an errand and now my car won't start. Its an 87 GXL and it sounds like its slowly starting to turn over but nothing is happening, I think I heard a click once or twice. I tested the battery with a multi-meter yesterday and the battery and alternator are fine.
I did what the faq said and tried cranking it with the accelator pedal depressed and when that didn't work, removed the EGI fuse and tried cranking it again with the accel pedal down, then put the fuse back and still nothing.
Any ideas?

If I understand you correctly, the engine is not turning over. You turn the key, but the engine does not move. You also checked the battery and it is good. Going by what you said, I would oOpen the hood, put it in neutral, grab the PS belt and see if you can physically move the engine. If so, the starter may be bad.
If you can't turn the engine over, then remove the radiator cap and then go turn the ignition key. Does the car turn over now? If so, is there coolant spraaying from the radiator?
If neither method works, I'd try to push start it in second gear.

Before it was sounding like it was trying to do something but getting nowhere. It sounded almost like the engine was turning but very very slowly.
How do I push start? I heard doing that is very bad for a rotary but I don't know.
