Started car without air filter...aHH!!

I started my car just now forgetting to put the filter on, and the AFM was unplugged (because i had to remove my intake/heatshield to get to something)
...My car was bouncing all over the place and running rough, i didnt know what the hell was going on til i remembered, i donno is it possible i could have sucked a leaf or anything like that into the intake? it was only on for like 5 seconds til i realized.. i hope i didnt suck somethign in there and ruin my brand new 2400$ engine.

I don't think you can start a car without AFM plugged. basically, it will stall quickly, cuz ecu has no signal from AFM.

Shouldn't hurt anything for the few moments it was running. Over in the 3rd gen section, last year a fellow didn't have a filter so he used a T shirt. Sucked it right into the turbo. Had quite a mess.

haha, ouch I remember that. I thought it was a suck.

You're engine's fine, I've started the car with just the afm and no filter on the end when I was playing around working on the car.

Not true, I've had mine running with just a open TB. Idled at like 1500rpm(not very healthy, did it just to see if it would fire up)..

Hell Ive driven without a air filter, it was only for a short while but it fell off. Well attached now. As long as its not a rock or something very hard, it shouldnt cause too much damage. Most everything will get burned up in the motor, but a small rock can cause some problems.
