It started!
I just got this rx7, the fuel pump was not receiving power so I ran a hot line with a fuse and cut off switch my wife helped install. It sat for a year until today, was smokey when started (again sitting for a year) but cleared out, I do know they burn oil by design. The only snafu we had was the rubber fuel line going into the motor sprung a pin hole leak. It has an exhaust leak around the air pump intake on the passanger side (new gasket?). Does it hurt anything to completely take the pump out of the equation and disconnect the belt? It idles smooth and drives well and sounds good, no bubbles in the coolant so no internal leaks. I got the car for $400, no rust, garage kept (has some dings and dents) and a re-built engine with 7500 miles on it. The sellers son died who drove it and he did not want it anymore.
Up next is a fresh oil change and some small parts to get it rad worthy.
Nice forum really helpful,
Jesse

Good job getting it started!
No, it won't hurt anything to remove the air pump (It's a mod most people do eventually), except you'll probably fail emissions if you have it in your area

Thanks! I believe it is leaking from where the pump connects to the engine , I am not sure what its called. I may disconnect the belt, They all smoke a little on start up that's what I have been hearing because of how the engine is designed. any step by step on how to remove the emissions? I also need a CD player for it, anyone know if these came with factory units?
Thanks
Jesse
