I've got an 87 GXL with 77000 miles. Recently started having problems. On start up the RPM's jump to 1000 then she just dies. After 8 or 10 tries and some creative throttle feathering i can get her to stay running. After i get on the road I can continue to feather the throttle till i get the RPM's up and the car will still stretch out over 110mph. Any ideas on this would be great. I know nothing about the rotary.

 

Basic tuneup would probably help to solve this problem

- verify all connectors are connected where they should be
- vacuum leaks
- spark plugs condition
- spark plug wires correct installation and condition
- timing adjustment
- TPS adjustment
- BAC/Idle adjustment
