Hi all My 7 seems to want to be difficult. I start up my engine and it revs then slowly goes down to normal idle range 850rpm. If i dont apply gas to it fairly quickly it will drop to about 100 rpm then dies. This also happens when im shifting into neutral coming to a stop. As its in neutral I slow down and the idle drops and dies. Any suggestion why its doing this? My exhaust has a leak could this be the reason why or is it something much more complicated? If i is the exhaust, my new one is coming in he mail this friday.

 

how did this happen? Just out of the blue?
What kind of car?
Could be the idle adjust screw... could be a bad AFM too...

 

Its an 87 N/a I've only had it for a week. I thought maybe it was because of old gas. So i put premium in it. Didnt change a thing...

 

could be busted intake hose after mass air flow, bad vacuum leak, or the idle mixture dashpot (located right behind your airbox mounted to bracket with a three wire round plug coming off it) is shot or majorly out of adjust. from the factory they are epoxied shut for no adjust but sometimes someone reverses that. be careful if you do try to adjust it only turns like a quarter turn in each direction, any more and youll snap off the variable resistor and no more idle. good luck.
