Start in gear, car still warm up

I know I should be able to skip the accelerated warm-up by starting in gear, but it is not working on my S5 N/A. The car still proceeds to warm itself up regardless. Could this be due to the detached cruise control clutch switch pictured below?

No, that wouldn't do it...check the neutral switch on the tranny, that's what tells the ECU you're in gear.

Must have been a fun picture to take...

That might have been working, but starting in gear certainly does not.

And I suppose I will need to jack up the car to reach the neutral switch?

Indeed, it's even more "fun" trying to actually check the wires.

^I think it's either under the shift boot or on the right side of the tranny, no need to jack it up unless you cant fit

you need to replace that bump stop that goes on the clutch pedal. It makes the pedal return quite a bit higher than it should when the pedal is released. It's easy.

I had to do this a few weeks ago. I can show you how to make one in ten minutes if you want.

Wait, what exactly is this for? Would you mind elaborate a bit more?
