starion fitting pics (56k beware)
I quickly stuck my starion FMIC into the front for some fitting tests. and dam it fits better then I thought!. perfect hight and depth. could be a inch or 2 wider though.
it's just sitting on the plastic underpanel, all I had to do was remove the plastic upper panels, the overflow tank, and the hood braket in the middle to get it to slide in.
a few people have said they are crap. but o well. I expect to pay less then $200usd total for everything. so I'll try it out won't be going over 10 psi on the stock turbo anyways.
I'll be cutting off those tiny pipes, and getting some 2.25" ones welded one.
I also have a k2rd rad going in. I wouldn't consider getting a FMIC with the stock rad. it doesn't work.

hey can you put up the link for your pics?
did you use 2.25"? I think that's what the TB is right? I haven't pulled off the IC to measure yet. I think the turbo side is only 2". but that black peice will take 2.25 I think cause my friend did.

So you think it would pose a problem to run a starion up front with the stock radiator? That saddens me as I'm looking to do a FMIC setup without having to fork over a massload of money, and a new radiator doesn't sound too cheap at the moment

I rented mine at an industrial supply rental house. It's a matter of walking into a regular rental center, then asking who has the "big stuff".
Mine wasn't a mandrel bender though. It did pinch the pipe very slightly, but nowhere near as much as a standard exhaust bender. Be sure to rent a "tubing bender", not a pipe bender. Big difference. You can see pics of the bender and pipes being bent in my sticky thread.

If you're a good welder, then go for it. The only problem with that is if you run out of bends or can't find what you need. With the bender, you can do whatever you want....and make some serious money selling exhausts on the side until you have to return it to the rental center...

Well I really don't want to do any welding myself. What I meant was, since I wouldn't be using a mandrel bender, I would think the bends would turn out better if I bought bends to start and just changed them a little as I need with a tube bender. Instead of trying to make 90* out of straight pipe w/o a mandrel bender. See what I'm saying? Oh and I looked at your pics, very informative. But with an NPR the endtanks are on either side. How much harder would it be do you think?

Scott,
When you get done w/ it, please post pictures, tubing info, and a write up on your webpage. I think I am going this route after I get my SP rebuilt (unless I buy an FD. hmm...Don't know which yet). Thanks, Jay
