Standalone???

I already tried searching but i couldn't find any info on what a standalone setup is. I was just wondering if someone would help me out and tell me what it is and if it is better, and how much does it cost??

a stand alone is a computer... like a Haltech or an Autec or Microtec thast totally replacecs your stock ECU

S-AFC's and the like are "piggy-backs", ,they let the ECU in place and alter vertain functions like fuel or timing..

Stand alones are awesome tools for modified cars..

BUT... yopu'll pay hell trying to pass an emissions test with one, and they aren't for the meek or those who have little knowledge of how a cars fuel and ignitions systems work

I would think you could pass emissions WAY easier by tuning them to run incredibly lean (and leaving the proper emissions equipment on there)
