I thought I saw a listing, someplace, that had a run of known rotor housing stamps.
Mine have the following (pictures, below (mildly crappy), and I'd like to know WTF they mean:
Front: RH97
Rear: EA1731 (the last '1' is smaller, in the stamp)
I KNOW my engine's been rebuilt since there's enough RTV between the plates to stick a Sasquatch to an in-flight 747, and the compressions REAL good. So I'd like to help answer some questions (both my own and others') as to WTF's REALLY goin on, under my hood.
The pics:
Front: Barely read 'RH97'

Rear: EA1731

Anyone?

those stamps are from the pre-1998 mazda reman program. since they only stamped the FRONT rotor housing, i bet your engine is built from some parts.
sometime in 1998 they switched to the blue tag on the front cover.

Right on; I was kinda thinking so, given the 'Frankenstein' nature of this car, in general.
I know the engine's been in WAY more recently, so there really IS no telling, without pulling it all down, anyway....
Course, if I can find the REW I'm looking for, it won't matter.
