SS brake lines....

Damn, wish I would have seen those before I bought the mazdatrix ones. Looks like those replace the hard lines as well. Do you have any installed pictures?...later

I went with new OEM rubber hoses because of the possibility of grit getting into the braid. I didn't even want to trust a plastic covering or heatshrink. For a daily driver, a brake hose is exposed to the elements every day. Plus, stainless steel braided can't be easily inspected for signs of failure; rubber hoses are easier to inspect.

For a race or semi-daily driven car, by all means use SS. For the engine compartment, SS is perfectly fine--just be sure to route the hoses so that the braid wouldn't rub against anything (it's tougher than you think).

Holy oldies!!

Anyway i never did go with the SS brake lines. All this talk of grit and what not made me give it a second thought and i'm still on rubber hoses....for now anyway. Its not like i drive super fast and brake EXTRA hard anyway

BTW, the OEM rubber hoses are 16.50 each special order--cheaper than an SS set.

SS Hoses - wrong length - 4 piston fit?

I got some hoses from Rotary Performance, and they were too long, and had extra fittings in the middle of the line.

Anybody find a set for the 4 piston that is correct? it should be about 13 1/4 inches end to end. Rotary Performance was 15.5 inches, and rubbed the frame.

Anyone who has done this would help. My car is up on stands with the brakes torn apart...

i went back to oem brake hoses after my goodrige ss line leaked after 1 year.personally i think they are better for track cars.same thing happened when i install those mazdatrix steering links.the steering became razor sharp the suspension a lil bit stiffer then it failed.

They are a near perfect fit considering they are aftermarket
2 years now. I've driven the car less than 14 months of those 2 years.

The plastic brake line couplers have cracked where they connect with the hardlines.
The master-cylinder is leaking, but I'm sure unrelated.
