Sqeaking Belt...Too Tight Or Loose?

What does a squeaking belt indicate? Belt too loose or tight?

Well it just started after I put the belt back on the air pump, so i'm guessing its a matter of tightness. Thanks for the replies.

Mine was loose and started squeaking a little bit. It was pretty cracked and old so I just threw a new one on and not a sound from that belt since.
