sputtering after about 30mi. of driving

thats pretty much the story! the car runs gread for 30 miles or so then all of the sudden it will sputter when i try to accelerate. i pull over and turn the car completley off for about a minute or so. start the car back up and its good for another 10-20 miles.

what the heck is this??!
thanks

Have you got a cat on the Car?.It could be the cat getting clogged up after Running.Rotary engine have higher exhaust temps than Piston engine and basically Eat cats,in a Short time.(.Solution get a new cat,or replace it with a Test pipe). Also what comes to mind is the fuel filter. When was the Last time this part was changed?..Most likely Never!.The fuel filter gets clogged up and you get a lack of power. Then you let it sit,the sediment falls off the Filter and the car acts OK.anyhow, there are two things you can look into,Good Luck.

I had the same issue when I first got my car. I changed the cats and the fuel filter.
also sealed up all the exhaust leaks I got and it went away.

man, if that wasn't an s4 I would attribute it to limp mode! That sounds just like it to me! Check your ECU.

Found the ISSUE it is in the part
"i can drive the **** out of it or even drive it nice and after about 20-30 miles it starts jerkin and sputtering,..... " your car Bucks and Jerks quite violently right?

This is caused by the TPS it isn't properly setup or either it is dead.

Try setting it up by adjusting it. the links are here.

TPS will run about 200+ dollars for a brand spaken new one at www.mazdatrix.com

but first try to adjust it.
How To Adjust the TPS on GlobalVicinity.com
http://howto.globalvicinity.com/gv_w...i=58&co=1&vi=1

Disconnect the TPS and if your idle is still surging then you may have a vacuum leak. Check your BACV as well since you said the idle dropped to 600 when engauging the A/C. your BACV is supposed to up the idle a bit when you turn the A/C on.

This thread here should help you out with the BACV. Hailers helped me out quite a bit.

Hmmmmm..... I wouldn't be so quick to attribute it to a bad TPS.... but test it and calibrate it regardless! Seriously thought, test the ECU too.

I have the same problem but it's on a 90 vert, and once it gets warm and I beat it for a bit it starts to die. I checked fuel pressure and it takes a while to build up and is low. I need to check before the filter but I'm pretty sure it's the pump. I need to see if I can overnight a mazda one so I can have it on the 2nd

I had a problem a lot like this one with my '91. I had bought a radiator from a guy with a bunch of spare N/A parts after he did a TII swap and he gave me some extra parts i thought i could use. one thing was his old coils. After i put those on it did exactly wut yours is doing so i switched back and it ran fine, so make sure your coils/igniters are all good.

Ok, so I threw my new pump module in there. The tank was full of crap, the sock was covered in rust/sand. I sucked everything else out of the tank, put the new pump in and it's been running great.

travv, this sounds like a problem i had when i first got my car. try yanking the water thermo sensor, for me it was malfunctioning and sending a bad signal to the main comp resulting in a poor fuel mix. yanked it and it worked... next day i replaced it. worth a try.
