Springs, which rates?

looking to get some altezzas to replace my bland s5 tail lights....................or maybe some sprngs to firm up the ride. i was curious to what everyone has and thinks. no eibachs as a want a linear spring. i noticed that the rb and st springs have a drastically different approach to the fr and rr spirng rates. st seems to be closest to stock, giving it a little more tail happy attitude, where as rb seems to have a high hp and/or drag racing rate with the rear actually being lower then stock. just curious as to what you guys that have these on your car think. and no i'm not buying coilovers even though it would be nice if i had the money.

I'm still thinking of going Intrax. I am just nervous about how their rates are and they are also progressive. My friend had them on his Escort, and the ride was nice and tight, but it was front wheel drive also. they do have the bigest drop I have found at 1.6".

As far as the lights go, when you find some, how much will you sell me your s5 light for.

Large drops cause stupid rear camber problems that require a rear camber adjust rod to "fix".

i'm not into massive drops. an inch is fine. this isn't a race car and i know how much of a pain an overlowered car is. i also want linear, no progressive. this car will be an autox car too.

if your not racing or autoXing, just go with a progressive rate spring like the ibach. RB springs dont say if they are linear or not, since it says is good for the road, they could be progressive. Theres that other ibach spring that i dont know if they make for our car, its called the sport line or somthing, cant remember. Thats supose to drop the car a little more then the other springs. Could try those if they make it for our cars.

I'd probably go with RB then. They also have a nice package where you can buy both sway bars and the springs fairly cheap. If you are worried about the rear being lower than the front, then you may want to look into their front strut mounts. They lower the front and additional 3/4." The only reason I am not wanting to go with them is because I am afraid that 1" will not be enough, but I could just be a little paranoid also.

I've got the ST springs and I think they are good. I've never taken my car to the track, but I can feel a big difference over stock. However, I also have KYB AGX shocks that I added at the same time so I'm not sure how much to attribute to that. As for the drop, I think these springs are about perfect. There is only enough room in the front to put one finger straight in between the tire and fender, and in the back there is room for two or three. That is with stock 15" 205/60's.

Oh yeah, and they're cheaper. I got mine for $185 shipped to my door last year.

Eibach also makes linear-rate springs. The Eibach Pro-Kit is progressive-rate.

My FC has linear rate Eibach ERS springs, 400lb front, 275lb rear, along with Koni coilovers, Mazdaspeed Camber/Caster kits, and Eibach anti-roll bars. This is the standard Mazdaspeed Stage II setup that is common in IT racing. You may want to go a little softer for street/autocross use.

How "bouncy" in the FC supposed to be.. I have AGX and I love how firm they are but my car seems to bounce a lot.. is this just a trait of the FC?

I have no idea what kind of springs I have.. they seem really firm and I know they are aftermarket but I don't know what kind..

The racingbeat springs are linear. They are also 145/132, NOT 145/82 like mazdatrix says. (check RB's website)

Anyone know the rates of the Tokico, HKS or Intrax springs?

What are your AGX's set at?&nbsp It might be too soft, as it sounds like your car is "porpoising".&nbsp If your AGX's are set low, try jacking them up one or two clicks.

mazdatrix did their own spring rate testing. so that makes you wonder about rb quality if th rears tested that far off of spec.

no car is just "bouncy". suspension controls that and you control the suspension.

and please people, read. i said i wanted LINEAR SPRINGS. also that i would be autoxing. i'm always amazed that even when i give specific details i get wild answers. at least no one said coilovers..........yet.

chances are i'll get st's.

It's the pavement, try turning them down so they ride softer. They'll absorb more of the shock. I forget exactly what the little ad that comes in the box with them says, but it has a picture of the dial and says something like put them on 1 for taking out a hot date and put them on 8 for the track.

Oh, and while I'm typing, I just want to say holy crap. I totally forgot I even had a sig. That thing is way old and my car is half primer now.

Wow, those RB springs must suck if they're off that much. Stock is 95/90. If the RB's worked the way they were suppose to they would seem to be the best choice without going with coilovers.

I have then set to 2 in the front and 3 on the rear.
when I first received them It was set at 1 in the front and 8 on the rear. there was a lot of bounce.

I have not have anytime to try other combinations.

i want my car lower then the rb and st and i see that intrex is the only way to go other then spending lost of money on coils.
