spring in shifter box

ok. so theres this little U-shaped spring that sits inside the shifter box. And it kind of clamps the shifter in place when u drop it into the box. Well i was sent a tranny that has a broken one and i was wondering if it wud b a big deal to put in the tranny without it. cuz im pretty sure that the only function it has is to return the shifter **** back to the center when in neutral. If it is a problem then how am i able to remove it?

thanks

mine doesnt have one it broke youll be fine. Youll just have to guide it into third but eventually youll get the feel for it and wont notice the difference

That spring wont harm anything. Mine is broken too. My previous tranny which I still have I had a trans shop install the spring for me.

I have NO idea how to remove or install that spring. I looked at it while both trannies I have were out of the car and I couldn't figure it out.

How do you install this spring? Anyone?
