spraypaint my rims

has anyone ever tried to spray paint your rims? just curious if black spraypaint would go over well with bronze colored rims. or would this be tacky?

its been done, most owners think its pretty silly to do along with myself, it would look 100X better powder coated and 1000X better stock.

Yea my freind did his stock ones and a awd trubo 1st gen eclipse, and it looked pretty cool from far away but up close it was tacky, and you had to repaint them like every week...your better off buying new rims....bowtercoating is pretty exspensive..

you have bronze rims? that's cool, got a pic?

I know one guy who spray painted his black with NO prepwork and it looks pretty much like crap. if you prep your wheels right (if that's even possible) results should be acceptable.

then it's just a matter of how good black wheels look on your car. One black S2000 I know has black wheels and it looks awesome. then I saw a pic of a black FD with black wheels and it looks godawful (both cars had stock wheels). just depends on the wheel design and the car itself, I guess. but all this is opinion... only you can decide if it's "tacky"

again, what wheels do you have that are bronze?

p.s. I've heard of powdercoating as cheap as $50 per wheel

i spraypainted mine with autozone "graphite" wheel paint. i didnt do MUCH prepping, just minor sanding and alot of cleaning to make sure i was spraying the wheel instead of the dirt i did three coats of the graphite (a gunmetal color) and 2 coats of clearcoat to give it a little shine.
i'll post some pics when i get a chance.
