spongy brake pedal

spongy brake pedal

hey guys,

i'm having a problem with my brake pedal every time I hit the pedal it sinks in gradually and loses pressure holding the rotors.

pads look good.
rotors got new one.

im thinking the brake cylinder ?maybe

any sugguestions

try bleeding the brake lines.

Its air in the brake lines. If you have time even change the brake fuild, unless its been changed lately.

My master cylinder went bad and I had identical symptoms. Mine went from bad to worse quickly and became dangerous to drive within a day or so. I remember sitting at a light on a hill and my brakes were fading and i started rolling back. Had to use my emergency brake to limp home.

spongy pedal = air
sinking pedal = primary piston seal failure

I forgot to mention i did change the brake fluids and bleed the lines also.

yup. thats the same problem i have. On a small hill the brakes just dont hold that much and i need to pumped them.

i think thats what it might be. Not too long ago my clutch cylinder went so. everything is bone stock in the car.


Thanks guys im going to consider changing the brake master cylinder. From what i read looks like there is leakage some where in the cylinders.
