spoiler, or no spoiler - that is the question

My 87 didn't come with the stock spoiler of the later years. I really like how the cars look with the spoiler though. Does the stock spoiler actually have any function, or is it purely for looks? Anyway just seeing what everyone else thinks.

The stock turbo spoiler is the wrap around style right? How much do they cost from a dealer or for a replica anyone know?

I thought he was talking about the guy on here, "UniqueTII" but maybe not.

My friends car didn't have a spoiler and he just put one on. You wouldn't believe the difference.

Dude I put the wrap around stock spoiler on my 88 GXL
cause it didn't have one, and it made it look a lot better,
however now i am wanting a different one of the aftermarket sort. I just want something bigger i think.
lates Matt22
oh just be true to your
car, give it what it needs.

Get a stock TII spoiler

Stock TII spoiler is MINT looking!
It's hard to find an aftermarket one (in north america) which looks better. I'd say 95% of aftermarket ones make the car look like ****. Get a stock TII one for $100.

Merry christmas.

i think that one of those SMALL aluminum mini dragger wings would look sweet on a black fc.

There was a pic a while back of an FC with an aluminum spoiler. It was a very low one, maybe 3 or 4 inches high. Looked pretty decent actually.

Yep I was reffering to the member UniqueTII, his mistic paint job and no spoiler, and it is to die for, I think the rx, without a spoiler lookes like a mini vette from the rear, but thats just me....

I truthfullly think FCs look really bad without some kind of spoiler. Mine didnt have one when I bought it, and I just really didnt like the looks at all. The stock one is very nice, one of the best choices, Ive seen very few aftermarket ones that I like. The GP Sports one is pretty nice though, almost like the stock "sport" spoiler, but wraps around a little.

But what about functionality? I personally hate the stock spoilers. They remind me of dodge daytona's.

I've been struggling with the spoiler/wing/ground effects issue for a while now. My car gets pretty light in the rear above 120 and its unnerving, but i don't want the attention of a wing. Any insights?

The stock spoiler reduced the CD from .32 to .29 I believe. They also have been proven to provide downforce to remedy the "unstableness" of the car at higher speeds.

You've got it backwards... They increased the drag coefficient from .28 to .31. NA 7's have the lowest dc of any production car.

You can buy the GTU style spoiler from almost any RX-7 shop. Wings West sells a replica, which I bought, but the quality is not as high as the real thing. Ebay is probably the first choice to find an original.

I don't like the pedistal style at all. I didn't know it was a factory option either.
