Lightbulb Split Air Pipe on Aftermarket Cat??

Do I need to run the split air pipe into my 3" Catco hi-flow catalytic converter in order to have a good shot at passing emissions?

I made sure to get one with an inlet pipe, but will the cat alone be sufficient to get me through smog tests?

FYI: I have all my factory emissions stuff functional, and its a S4 TII. It will just have a custom turbo back exhaust.

"Catco" I've never heard of them. Is it a rotary specific Cat? most cats are not designed for a rotaries high exhaust temps and burn up.

I believe the Bonez unit is used without the split air pipe. Don't know about yours.

you neet the split air pipe. you will have to find some high temp hose to connect the spilt air pipe back to the new cat.

The split air tube (the small diameter one - about the thickness of a pencil) is used to open the 5th and 6th intake ports. It has nothing to do with emission controls.

Nah I just got the Bonez TurboFlow (highflow cat and dp) and it uses the split air pipe. It comes with a piece of hightemp hose and 2 clamps to attach it. Was pretty easy to install.

Oh sorry, this is a TII, no 5th and 6ths.

The shop that welded all my stuff together welded a split air pipe onto it, so it should be good and solid.

However, the exhaust kind of smells weird, and when I tried to get it inspected after having the exhaust done, it failed ONLY by low-speed Hydrocarbons.

The guys said I need to "break in" the cat, since it's brand new, to pass.
Does this sound right??

Yeah, see I wouldn't think it would take long for the cat to be emissions ready.

The exhaust fumes still smell kind of strong though, kind of like a sweet smell and burning rubber, is that normal?
