Three full revs (half a rev at a time)

The e-shaft turns 3 times for each full rotation of a rotor. (Because of internal gearing.) So, if you trun the shaft one full turn, you will have turned the rotor 1/3 of a full revolution. That will put a different rotor face at the spark plug hole each time you turn the e-shaft one full revolution. After 3 full turns of the e-shaft, you will have had all 3 faces of that rotor at the spark plug hole.

so this would mean that are rotors are spinning 1/3 the E- shaft right? so when u read the tach is the rotors spinning at lets say 5K or the e-shaft? Does the RPM go by the spark?

The tach reads shaft revolution.

Well, technically, the tachometer reads the negative signal off of the trailing coil. The tachometer is configured as a "4-cylinder tach", in that it outputs the engine rotational rpm based upon how often the trailing coils fire, which is an equivalent output to how often the coil fires on a 4-cylinder engine.

Example: the trailing coils on our cars fires 4 times for two revolutions, since each rotor fires once pre revolution. A four cylinder will fire each piston once in two revolutions.

If you were to connect a tachometer to the leading coil, you would have to configure it for a 8 cylinder, due to the wastespark (leading coil fires twice as much).

The tachometer value as shown on the gauge gives rotational rpm of the output of the engine. This is given via the eccentric shaft. Basically, the best way to think of it is that the tachometer value will always give the rotational speed of the flywheel/flexplate.
