hello everyone
I recently got back into the rotary scene after owning a few 240's and 4 subarus after
I had an 84 GSL way back
and just bought an 87 GXL last week while I rebuild my STI
and I intend on buying my cousins FD soon

N e way, Im reaching out to everyone as I bought the car with the speedometer not working. while Ill replace the cable soon. and atleast check it out this weekend see if its connect to trans and cluster etc

In the meantime can someone please tell me the speed in each gear at 3K
also what RPM is 65MPH

I greatly appreciate it

I have a 87 5sp NA GXL

thanks in advance
Wilberto

if my car ran I could help you...

then again I have a turbo, so the gearing would be different anyway, sorry. also, all you need to check if the speedo cable is unplugged from the back of the cluster (the most common cause for the speedo to not work by far) is a screwdriver. and there are only 9 screws... just saying.

for the speedo cable being unplugged, you can actually just look up there, no need to remove anything

for speeds@3k rpm, assuming the stock NA trans, 4.1 rear, and stock 205-60-15 tires

1st 15mph
2nd 27mph
3rd 39mph
4th 53mph
5th 77mph

65 in 4th is 3650 in 4th, and 5th is 2350rpm.

in case you're wondering 5th IS that tall, 7800rpm in 5th is 200mph!

OP- if you happen to have a gps it will give you speed

funny enough after changing rear end, transmission, rims and tires my speedo is still within 1mph of GPS speed
