Specifications for S5 Turbo
WHat are all the specs for the S5 Turbo? What size does it compare to? Is it oil or water cooled? Whats the trim and whatnot? What PSI is it good for? Airflow Chart? Thanks.

It's a Hitachi HT-18 specifically built for Mazda by Hitachi.
The design is based on Garrett T3/T4 turbos.

Go measure it yourself.
None of these numbers are easily accessible.
The turbine A/R is rumored to be either 0.88 or 1.00.

You sound like you're trying to size up a turbo for...your MX-3?
Sorry, there isn't too much "hard" info on the turbo itself.
If you're planning on slapping these stock FC turbos on a piston motor, most of them will have HUGE lag due to the large turbine section.
You're better off getting an aftermarket Garrett which are easier to purchase and control all aspects of the turbo specs.

Well sounds great. I have searched and didn't find anything. So that is prolly the reason I couldn't find anything. But I am "slapping" this on a 1.8L engine built for boost (mazda BP series), and because I will only be wanting the Boost when I am up in the RPM's anyways this sounded like a good turbo. Braking traction is a big thing cause it is FWD, So Turbo Lag might be a good thing in my situation. Thanks for the help.

Hmmm, I had the same question as clayton but with a slight twist...I assume that the hitachi unit is not ball bearing, but i was wondering if there is a place where i can buy a rebuild kit for it. Mine works, but I believe that it is a little on the inefficient side. So, I would like to rebuild it...and thus make it more efficient. Anyhow, any help with this foray would be great.
Thanks,
Rob
