Specific S5 interior question

I am wanting to install S5 door panels in my AE and I have a few concerns, maybe you S5 guys can help me out. What does the speaker in the door attach to, the door or the panel? If it does attach to the door, is it something that I can remove and bolt to an S4 door? I'm looking for some pics, possibly, of the S5 door to see what is behind the panel.

If I do have to, in fact, use the S5 doors, I can't remember if the S4 trim fits on the S5 doors or not.

I am doing this because the PO decided it would be a good idea to cut holes in the AE door panels for speakers I haven't tried an upholstery shop yet to see if they can fix the leather insert on the AE panel. There isn't enough room behind the panel to mount speakers where he cut the holes. I'd really like to have a better sound stage up front and the stock 4" speaker location sucks butt. The S5 panels give me more room and better speaker location being in the lower corner.

Thanks.
Jim

I don't know if a vert is in any way the same. But on another note, I used that saying in a speech I gave on the history of rotary engines.

"round and round not up and down"

Thanks....

Is there any way I can get a picture of the structure? I'd like to know if I can build something like it or if it can be removed and welded/bolted to an S4 door.

JimmyV13 - I know it's not going to be specific to this case, but on my eclipse, I mounted a set of 6 1/2" speakers in the door because the #$*& before me had cut the holes in the door, and THEN must have realized that my model didn't have the speakers there as a stock option.. . here's what I did: I got a piece of sheet metal aluminum (doesn't have to be too thick), and make a square about 8 or 9 inches a side. you may need to make it larger to get to the supports on the door, but I think the Rx-7 door was structurally similar to what I was dealing with there.. . Cut a hole in the door area if oyu need to, as well as the piece of sheet metal, mount the speaker (I made sure to use teflon lock-nuts behind it, as I was trying to minimize stress on the sheet metal).

The hardest part was rounding out the hole in the door and making sure the speaker grill was flush to the door.. it took some bending, but I convinced it to go in, and it looked pretty decent...

Hope this helps!

For what it's worth, though.. I have 8 speakers + 1 sub in my 7... sounds Good! definatly worth the effort and fabbing I put into mine... I have no problem hearing the music at 90-100 with the sunroof open and the windows down

*edit*

I guess this all coudl have been summerized by saying "Sheet metal and dremel!" ....
