My wife and I have two 1990 red verts. we decided to compare VIN numbers just for curiosity sake. In doing so we found,

They are both 352s which is a convertible with an Air Bag.
Then the check digit on one is a 7 and the other is a 9, any idea what the check digit is ?

Then they are both LOs which means a 1990 built in the Hiroshima plant.

Then the serial numbers are 713223 and 713348, which I assume means they were 125 cars apart on the assembly line.

But the build dates by serial number section says that cars built between 12/89 and
11/90 should be numbers 800001-900000 ? The date on the door jam of both is 6/90. Anybody have an explanation for this ?

lmao, Mazda shows both as being built on 6-01-1990, which is neat!

 

Does anyone have production numbers for the later years? My 91 is 901841 and I don't think there were many made!

 

Yes, after doing some math last night I figured out that they had to have been built on the same day !!

If that's not ironic enough, She bought hers from the original owner who bought the car in Cincinnati. However mine was originally purchased in Gulfport, Mississippi and sold 3 years later to a couple in Dayton, which is who I bought the car from !!!

They are twin sisters that were determined to be reunited !!
