Not much, which is the hilarious part. My dad trusted them and didn't mind the price premium. I got JBL GTO528 for the rears and GTO628 for the fronts. They were 139.99 a set. Then I got a Kenwood KDC-X696 which was 219.99 then some antenna thing for 20 bucks and then 210 for labor. What's weird is that only comes up to 800 after taxes. No idea where the other 50 bucks came from. I left the receipt in the car though.

Now, I could have gotten the speakers for 55 + shipping per set and the deck for 150 + shipping off eBay, but like I said, my dad wanted to do it there and he's stubborn, so I didn't want to argue.

I know it was WAY too expensive. I could have gotten all 3 sets of speakers, a deck a sub and an amp for the same price off ebay.

Edit: I also had to get a harness and faceplate or w.e

Betcha 300ish of that was labor. I don't even charge that much for a full blown install as long as I don't have to fab up anything and even then... that's outrageous. And, to top it off they didn't even respect the car. Just curious, how's the install look? Guessing there's some gaps and shoddy work there as well.

Edit: I see you squeezed that post in as I was typing.

They charged 70 an hour labor. I didn't trust this place from the beginning because the older guys are just salesman. They have basically teenagers working in the garage installing speakers. All the speakers are installed nicely at least. I didn't trust these guys from the get-go, but my dad insisted.

I'm a little bit upset because for 850 bucks, I didn't even get a sub or amp. I'm going to buy myself a sub with a slim box that's already amped and just put it behind my seat.

Anyone have any experience with the Infinity Basslink 10"?

Not personally, but I've read that a lot of people really like them.

I think that's what I'll pick up for a subwoofer. I don't need insane amounts of bass, I want a crisp attack, since I listen to rock/metal and occasionally DnB/Electro House.

So because they broke the window sill/w.e trim as shown in the photos, the window gets stuck when going up because the trim sticks to it. I have to pop the trim back in place to keep going up. Down is no problem.

Just found out that they also snapped the trim around the warning lights.

Going to make them buy me new parts tomorrow. This is ******* stupid. I don't know if I should tell them they have to replace all the broken/cracked pieces or give me some of my money back to buy them myself? If they deny anything and don't want to replace the parts, do I sue them?

Prime example of why I insist on doing all my own work.. I would bring them pictures of the car before the stereo install, and then show the after. Then you can politely explain that you both know that their guys were careless and clearly did not know how to properly break down this interior for a stereo install (personally, had I been the one working on it, I would have used my $600 smart phone that I pay $90 a month for to look it up had I not known ) . You can then smile brightly at the person in charge and gladly remind them that being reported to the BBB, and incurring massive negative publicity through a nightly news report is poor for business.

If after you have given them the opportunity to make the situation right? Seriously, report them to the BBB, create a bad guy thread on here, and go stand outside their shop with a bunch of your buddies to protest. What are they going to do?

I don't have pictures of the interior before, though. :/ But I wouldn't have taken photos if I wasn't happy with the install... If they did it properly everything would be fine. When I arrive there I'm telling them they either have to refund some money, most likely labor costs because the labor was ****, work out a deal like throwing in a subwoofer for free or go to Mazda and replace all the parts they broke. If they deny breaking anything other than the one piece he told me about I will make sure that they lose a ton of business by telling everyone on Facebook, and my girlfriend Facebook. My dad is telling people at work and I will make sure they have bad reviews on everything I could find online. I will even put up signs infront of their store or put up flyers explaining how terrible of a job they did.

I could have bought everything online and had it installed at FutureShop like I did in my Civic and saved hundreds of dollars, but instead wanted to help out a local business and they fucked up.

I would approach the situation firmly, and be organized/prepared. Documentation needs to be on your person, and do not curse. Speak directly with the owner . The goal is to go about this professionally with a confident flare and not simply look like a crying child. If the owner of that business truly values customer service, then he/she will be willing to make the situation right.

Hey, everyone. Tomorrow I'm going to get them to replace what they broke. If they deny anything, I'll be suing them as a small claim.

I was just curious if anyone knew how much a door panel costs, warning light trim and the door cards?(the plastic piece that is at the corner of the door, where the door frame meets the door panel. Small triangle black plastic. I know they aren't expensive used, but I want to know if it's even possible to buy these parts new from Mazda.

Thanks for all the help! It makes me sad to get my first car that I paid for with my own money, spend a while looking for the perfect car and to find out my rx7 in amazing condition gets busted up by "professionals" isn't right and pisses me off.
