this is on a 91 fc. im tryin to hook up my door speakers. i bought some new kenwood speakers and i connected all the wires and it didnt work. i reconnected my stock speakers and they didnt work either, so im guessing the speakers never worked at all so the problem is with the wires. I plug my new speakers with my friend's car and it worked perfectly. how can i fix the problem?

 

Go to the FC FAQ at the top of this section, find the download link for the factory service manual, download the wiring diagram file. The wiring diagram may help if the system in the car is OEM.

 

i just pulled the old wires and ran new ones, its easier than following that rats nest, and the new wires are a better gauge.

 

test voltage at the wires if you think there is any... sure the head unit is good?

 

There is a little amplifier that goes to the stock door speakers.. the radio adapter harness adapter I got for my aftermarket radio didn't include the extra wires to the door speakers since there are six speakers on a 91. What I did was take out the amplifier and the four wires that go to the speakers come off that. Then I removed the two under dash speakers and ran the wires from those under dash speakers to the wires that connected to the stock amplifier.

I didn't want 6 speakers anyway.. but if you wanted all six you would have to figure something out or run another amplifier or something.

 

run new wires.
