Speaker mounting question

I want to install speakers in the door panels of my S4 GXL. I read that the stock location for door speakers is above the arm rest and that the sheet metal already is cut for such a thing. However, upon pulling the door panel out and looking at it, I see that the shape of the cut-out is an odd looking thing. Does it require a factory speaker pod? I assume so, as it would have probably had some sort of amp at the back of the speaker from the factory, had my car come with them.

Second question... Wiring. I am also going to assume the wiring is pre-existing. IIRC, mint green and mint green with black stripe is part of the speaker wiring system. I believe I saw that harness when I'd pulled the door panel off.

Blah, I'm rambling, but can someone help me out here? I've done searching out the *** already.

Thanks.
