Spark Plugs Won't Go in!

Ok, i think i figured out my problem, before my car wouldn't start, and it was because (i think, have not tested yet) so i was going to cean my plugs, and when i go to put them back in, they only go about half way and then get hard and stop, i think i did something to the screw in thingy, because i was using power tools, any ideas?

definately do not use power tools for spark plugs. it may be too late now but you really only need 12 ft.lbs for plugs. and i think anyone can muster up that.

You can try a thread restorer (~15.00)'
If that doesn't work you will have to have a Heli-coil put in

Dude! Save power tools for your exhaust and drivetrain! ****!

You're not the only one to go through this:

the proper way to fix it would be to tear down the entire motor and use a heli-coil to fix it.

there might be hope, that is if you dont touch it and take it to someone who knows what they are doing. not trying to be mean, but if you used power tools to put a plug in then you shouldnt trust yourself to have a good feel for threads. when doing something like that it is VERY important to know when to stop and whether or not you can go a little more, only experience can teach you this

good luck

get a tap and die set. its easy. hopefully, you didnt mess up too bad. i fix that stuff all the time when customers try to do their own tuneup. and cross thread it.

I'm not hear to rag on anybody but, what the **** were you thinking. I guess posts dont matter. I never use "power tools" on my cars at all. Although i do use "air tools" but not for tedious **** (plugs ect.) but it dose sound like you cross threded the plugs in. Rull of thumb when using air tools "never tidious stuff" and always five full turns by hand befor tightening them down whith the air tools.

good luck

Unless you happen to have a right angle drill and other expensive tools and the skill and know-how to retap your sparkplug holes

spark plugs are part ceramic too, you can shatter them.
