taking care of my rx7???
hi guys,
i'm a 22 yr. old college student and i have an 88 rx7 gxl. i've had it for about 14 months and have really come to love it. i started with no knowledge about rx7's or rotaries. it has about 140 000 miles on it and runs fine, gotta be careful with the cold weather starts though.
i am not a car buff or anything but i was wondering what kind of little, simple things i should be doing to keep my seven in good shape. any kind of simple maintenances and checks that i should know about that will meep my car running and treated right.
thanks for your help. a lot of you have been a huge help to me over the 14 months since i bought my car and i really appreciate it.

Oil changes are Very important to rotaries, since oil is injected into the combustion chamber, it needs to be clean. You must change your oil regularly, probably 2500 Miles would be good. Ive found that spark plugs on rotaries tend to wear more rapidly than most cars, you probably would want to change them every 6k miles. Also letting the car warm up fully before you drive is very important. Another thing is that before you shut off the car for the day, you might want to have one or 2 good runs to redline, just to blow out any carbon deposits that may have built up. Thats all i can think of for now, hope this helped..
BTW......where in PA are you?

Just as an addendum, rxmfn7's tips are pretty conservative, but if you follow them, you won't go wrong. In addition to changing the oil regularly and often(I change mine about every 3k), make sure you use a quality oil filter(read: not FRAM) and replace that regularly too. Everything else is pretty much your basic maintenance stuff that should be performed on any car. You don't have a turbo, so it saves you a heap of trouble on maintenance. =) Glad you're having fun with the car!

Blind... That's for turbocharged vehicles only, it lets the turbo housings cool down after a hard run. If you don't do it, there's a possibility that they will cool down too fast and crack(imagine ice cubes in a cup of water). But since he's an NA, he doesn't have to worry about it. If you're an NA, then you shouldn't either
