Spark plug question
I have an 88 TII and i have changed the spark plugs on it and 2 other RX7's before but on this 88 there is something wrong i think....my rear trailing plug wont go in NEAR as far as the other three and it looks to be pointing a little more downward then straight out of the housing. Now i might be mistaken about the downward angle but im sure its not going in as far as the others. Anyone ever had this happen to them. Should I take the plug out and stick my fionger in the hole to see if there is some crappy build up in the threads of the housing that are keeping it from going in all the way? what would cause the downward angle? COuld i be cross threading it? I dont think it is cross threaded because it goes in pretty easy up until the point where it just stops and feels like it is all the way in but it is still sticking out about 1/2 inch more than the rest.
Also if my rear trailing plug is not in all the way what would that do to my motor?
Thanks for any light you people can shed.
James

alright...well when i take the spark plugs out could i possibly spray some WD-40 in the hole to clean out some of the crap or should i just shove my finger in there to clean out some of the crap cause i think the crud that is in there that might keep making me cross thread it

Once it is cross-threaded, you will have to buy a spark plug thread chasing tool (sort of like a short stubby tap).
However, you MUST get it to start correctly, and at the correct angle, otherwise you will ruin the thread!
If you dont know how to do this, I suggest you take it to a machinist (not a mechanic!).
Good luck with this, Dave
