Spark per revolution question, should be easy

I sort of feel like experementing and want to make a sequential shift light and got confused

For an rpm signal, could i use the trailing coil, and if so would that give me 2 spark signals per rpm?

Both of the coils have a short lead with a feamale bullet plug that can be used for connect a tach or shift light. Both coils will give you two pulses per revolution (each rotor is fired once per rev).

Don't let the waste spark set-up fool you. The trailing coil wire gives a summed signal (one coil then the other), so both coils will give you the same reading.
