Sorry - Another Injector Question

I have a 87 na RX7

Now in the Haynes manual I just got it says ...

86-87 have 1.5 to 3 ohms Injectors
88 and later have 12 to 16 ohms injectors

Mazdatrix says something totally different .... here is what the Mazdatrix site says ...

Note: For higher fuel flow in an 86-87 1/2 Turbo or Non-Turbo, the 84-85 injectors may be substituted in either the primary or secondary position (Not recommended in primary). The cutoff for 87 1/2 is June 1987 and splits at VIN #7601. The SE injectors will NOT work in engines after this VIN numbers

..................

Is there a way to tell for sure what type of injectors I have with out actually testing them?
I heard there was a resistor box under the air filter if you have 1.5 to 3 ohms Injectors. Does anyone have a pic of the resistor box?

FYI My vin is JM1FC331XH0510858

thanks

George

You've got low impedence. Example: I have a 87 with JM1FC3314H0512086, it has low impedence. You can look at page 4A-69 in the Fuel secton for N/A at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/Technical_I...ice_manual.htm Its located 10 inches down from the top of the filler cap for the windshield wiper fluid tank. Its aluminimum in color, about six inches long and and inch and a half wide. One large round plug on it. You can see it by standing in front of the air filter and looking under the air filter. Its about six inches under the air filter. Or you can get your meter out and take a plug off you secondary injectors and measure b/t the pins on the injector. You'll probably get 2.1 ohms or such. Those earlier injectors are 2-3 ohms and 680cc.
I have a old Haynes manual and on page 143, figures 21.1, 19.2 and 19.1 show what you are looking for. Its in the fuel and exaust systems section.

Thanks Man! Thats the info I was looking for. I think I might just replace them with remanufactured injectors at http://www.fuelparts.com. I remember someone else saying they are just like new from that place for $40 each.

Write back and tell us how they worked out. They are 680's and it'll be interesting whether or not the car boggs down due to being too rich. Some say yes, some no. We'll soon have your opinion. Seems a fair price for this experiment. Be sure to write and give your results. If it does not work out I might be interested in buying them at cost. Maybe.
