I dont believe you understand what actually happens here. When you push on the clutch pedal, the pressureplate springs travel DOWN, toward the flywheel. They may even flex outward a bit from where they are now. SO measuring them at rest won't do you a lot of good, as they move around when in use.

Just grind the holes out some more, put it back together, and you'll be good to go. THen call SR with your findings.
