Someone please walk me through or point me to a sunroof repair write up
Been searching, hard time. And I have to leave for work now.
Basically, I can't move my sunroof. I got a new motor installed, but I also have to clean it and fix the linkages. So if anyone has a complete write up... I saw something at FC3S that wasn't exactly a write up. I mean, I'd like pictures and everything. I'm going to attempt this tomorrow if the weather permits.

You need to remove ALL the plastic trim and headliner from the roof.&nbp Due to the interlocking nature of the panels, both the A-pillar and B-pillar plastic must be removed, unless you like to potentially break a lot of plastic panels.  Once all of that is out, you'll see all the nuts that fasten the sunroof "assembly" to the roof of the car; at the same time, you need to unplug the electrical plug in the front.  I think you need to remove the rear view mirror prior to this to remove the headliner - excuse the vague memory; I haven't done this in years.
Once the fasteners are all loose, get help for this next step - carefully push the sunroof down (sunroof panel should be closed) and have a friend help support for underneath.  The whole assembly is suprisingly HEAVY!
Disassembly is pretty straight-forward.  The side sliding parts are a little complex, but if you fiddle around with it for a few minutes, it should all come back together; else, keep GOOD notes on assembly.  If you do have a stuck linkage in the guide tube - this is a royal pain in the *** to "fix".&nbp You need to carefully cut the tube away from the linkage and replace with some 1/4" copper tubing; a good, used unit would make it real easy.  If you can't find a used unit, make sure you use a tube bender to bend the copper tube, else it'll all kink and end up useless!  Be sure to clean everything up and use a LOT of grease (moly or lithium or equivalent) on reassembly.

I paid $100 for mines, but it was a mint condition sunroof assembly.  This price is kinda high - I would think you could get one for a lot cheaper, like $20 - $50 if you find someone parting out a car.  Those sunroof assemblies don't actually sell to well.

Anyone think it would be cool putting in a non-opening sunroof made of CF? Then replceing the headliner with a thin one?
I have a sunroof in my car and never use it. well, maybe once. I opend it, felt the top of my ears buring then closed it. Havent used it since. If i have my helmet on, my head rubs the liner too.
