Angry Somebody please help me!!!!

I have an '86 N/A that I'm working on. It's been giving me nothing but trouble and no its pissing me off. As soon as I start the car it revs to 4,000rpm and stays there. If I give it any gas it revs to 4400rpm but acts like it's spinning dead weight. Nothing seems to be stuck open in the throttle body, all vac hoses seem to be hooked up right, it's apears to be timed right (best guess beings it stays at 4 grand), I've just run out of things to look at. The only thing thats not stock is the primary fuel rail, it came off of a 1990 model, the original pulsation damper was leaking. Somebody just please help me with this car before I set it on fire and laugh at its destruction.

thnx for any help guys.

Throttle cable stuck?

Pull the plastic intake off and look at the position of the butterflies in the throttle body, they should be pretty much closed.

What happens when the car warms up?

If you put the clutch in and put the car into first gear, what happens?

4000rpm to all of the above...the butterflies seem pretty well shut

i had that problem, and my throttle stop screw had screwed its self in, not letting the butterflies close all the way. i burnt the **** out of my clutch on the way home.

does it go below 4000 at any time? if not id check the throttle cable. i had the same problem.

i had to remove the throttle covering and their was dirt all in it, i used an air ose to break it lose, and a little vacume extension to get it out, i recommend this if you suspect the throttle cable

ok...let me put the entire story on here. I got as much inf as I could out of the previous owner...

This guy buys a wrecked '91 N/A with the intention of putting the motor into the '87. After finding out the hard way he discovers it will not work. Turns out both rotors are bad anyways. So he tries to switch and swap (with no real rx7 know how) any part from the newer to fit the 86. From what I can tell all he swapped were parts that were the same anyway, and the injectors. He had to spice the newer connectors in to do it. After all of this he says the car never idled below 2k...I actullay drove the car a few days before he played with it and it ran fine. I tried everything I could to get the car to idle propperly but failed miserably. I finally broke down and bought the four propper injectors and installed them...now it sticks at 4k. I don't know if any of this will help any but maybe it'll give some of you a better idea.
thnx

hate to bring this back up but I've started working on this car again and need some suggestions. I've disassembled the intake and put it all back together. I've checked the compression and it reads great. Engine turns great so sitting for the time hasn't caused anything.

Now from my experience since posting this I've learned that running S5 injectors in an S4 will cause problems because the low/hi impedence stuff.

Now, S5 injectors sat in an otherwise stock S4 and were ran for about 2 months. Could that have damaged the ECU? Could it have damaged the injectors? Now it's got all four original injectors but I didn't have time to start the car today.

Also, which ones are high impedence and which are low?

Well I don't know the answer to that, but just for the heck of it, unplug the two wires that are on the bottom drivers side of the radiator, and that is suposed to stop it from reving to 3,000 when the car is first started. Maybe that thing is like all RX-7 electronics and it sucks and has malfunctioned.
