Arrow Some quick 6-port turbo questions

Wait wait Dont flame me yet. I searched pretty well and I only have a few questions that werent directly covered. I have a s5 n/a and I want to swap in a 6-port turbo setup. I will be using the same harness, ill just be swaping the pressure sensor and afm. However I am not sure what to do about the knock sensor. If im correct the knock box on s5 is seperate fromt he ecu? Would I be ok w/o connecting it?

Also will the s5 n/a tps bolt onto the s4 or s5 tii tb? Can I use my n/a tb if it wont? I have all the seperate parts at home so If noone replies ill just test fit them this weekend.

Other than that I think I have everything covered. Ill be using a 13b-re front cover for the oil return and an aftermarket filter pedestal for the feed. Ill be running 550 primaries and 850 secondaries w/ a chipped(remapped ect) TII ecu and safcii.

find aaroncakes guide... that will help you out A LOT... im not 100% sure but i believe that u HAVE to block off the 5th and 6th port... when i did mine, a friend of mine did that for me, so im running a 4 port NA engine with an S4 turbo... and using the throttle body from the NA would be easier i believe, and if you have some custom fabbing under you belt u can mod a couple TII intercooler cores into a FMIC. here is my setup

91 S5 NA streetported, and converted to a 4 port
88 S4 turbocharger
2 TII intercooler cores welded together to make a FMIC
and an old *** saab BOV (sounds amazing)
NA throttle body
S5 NA ECU
NA harness
i never changed the AFM or pressure sensor
and the knock box (i believe i cannot be 100% sure on this seeing as how i didnt do most of the electronics) but the knock box i dont think is connected

hope this helps you out a little, and deffinately find aaroncakes guide

Aaroncake knows a guy that turboed his S5 NA and poped the motor, he has suggested not to use the stock ecu or an AFC; you need to be able to adjust timing as well as fuel.

Aaron cakes site doesnt answer those questions becaus ehe used n/a manifolds on the first build and custom mani's for the 2nd. Blocking off the aux ports sounds like a really bad idea.

Did you guys read aarons writeup??? His first setup was run on the stock ecu w/ a safc.

I think the idea with blocking the aux ports is because of timing, not sure why yet, but that's what I was told by a fellow rotor head. I was also told that with the turbo, since you're cramming in extra air anyway, the size of the intake isn't such an issue. More important is getting the exhaust to flow well.

The thinking behind removing the aux port actuators is because the engine is being force fed air instead of sucking for every last breath. The 2 ports are blocked off until 3800 rpms to keep velocity in the intake up, now air is being forced in so the ports actuators are unneeded.

Knock control is handled through the ECU in S5's, S4's have boxes. HAILERS, I believe, doesn't even use his.

Yea, theres a differenc ebetwwen removing the actuatos which I have done and blocking off the ports which I will not do. They are closed a low rpm's to help with low ed torque, thats not as a big of a problem w/ a turbo.
