Question some info required on an N/A to TII conversion

Ok, I'm looking to do a conversion on my 91 N/A. I got a TII engine and trans, but need to know a few things.

1. Ok, what would you suggest as an engine managment solution? I've looked into it myself, and found a couple options including the Electromotive Tec3 or the Haltech E6K. I don't really want to use a stock ecu because I want something more programmable, but another issue is where to get it and the wiring harness...

2. What intercooler would you suggest as a front-mount (no TII hood)? Also, anyone know where to get it? I live in SoCal.

3. If I get rid of all the fan stuff will an electric fan suffice, or will I need a better radiator as well? If I should get a new one, which is prefered?

4. One thing that is very important to me is making this swap street-legal... Anyone done this legally? What channels should I go through to make it legal? What is the appropriate course of action? How do I get a waiver for it?

5. Anyone have a suggestion for who to get the exhaust from (turbo to cat-back)?

6. Lastly, if I were looking to upgrade the turbo, what would u suggest moving to? I am looking for it to produce about 300 or so RWHP.

Thank you for all of your help, I look forward to hearing your responses.

P.S. I am going to do a rebuild on this engine and have the rotors clearanced for 3mm apex seals.

what year is your TII engine? it MUST be as new as the car or it will NEVER pass emmissions... that's the law.
I believe the ECU must be as new or newer than the car as well.
You're probably going to need to prove this, somehow, but I'm not sure, exactly, how.

the stock ECU should be able to handle 300 RWHP with an S-AFC. I'm not sure if haltechs are emmissions legal or not.

an E-fan may suffice for cooling at stock power levels, but much past that, you're going to need a better rad. You might allready need a stock TII rad for that motor, at stock power levels. the stock n/a rad will NOT handle a 300HP at the wheels turbo motor, period.

As far as the exhaust goes, head down to your local muffler shop, they wont' charge more than like $250 for a full exhaust (compared to $1200 for a RB one)

3mm seals are totally unnecessary, don't waste your money. If the engine you have has strong compression right now anyways, don't even bother rebuilding it. Run it till it goes, then buy new housings and rotors. That way you KNOW you have a good motor, no used parts inside = long life.

I hope I was helpful...

when I did the swap I went with a Microtech LT-8. Check the microtech section for information. It's a sub forum in the ECU section.

I bought the racingbeat 2.5" dp, and mated it up to my old NA presilencer, and cat back. If you do go the custom exhust route, make sure to get some good mufflers. I know two people that had their mufflers burn out in under a year, and this was using dynomax, and flowmaster. Just stay away from "glass packs, and you should bo OK.
