There's a GTUs for sale in my area and I wanted to get some info on them before getting seriously interested in the car. First of all, is there a GTU option AND a GTUs option? If so, what are the differences between the models? As far as I could tell, production numbers look to be about 1300 for the GTUs. What is the difference between the GTUs model and the Turbo II other than the GTUs not having the turbo engine and maybe different rims? Did GTUs come with a Turbo II hood?

What is different on the vin code for a GTUs? When looking at the car, I'd want to check it to make sure it's a real GTUs.

The more important question to me is, what's worth more, a GTUs or Turbo II assuming the cars are the same year, mileage, condition, etc....

The GTUs isn't worth as much as an S5 TII. There was a GTU and a GTUs in 89 and 90. THe GTU is the base model version. The GTUs is the sporty edition and there were supposedly only 1100 made. Heres a small list of how to identify if the car is a GTUs or not.

Manual crank windows
No rear wiper
4 piston brakes
LSD
16" wheels with a sticker in the door jam that says the tire size is 205-55-16
The stock stereo has no cd or cassette deck
AC was optional at the dealer
no sunroof
Aluminum hood

If theres more I don't remember right off hand.
