Solenoids + Resistors

I've been doing a lot of research into solenoid removal over the past day, but there seems to be conflicting information as to solenoid removal within all of the posts I've read.

Some claim replacing the solenoids with resistors is required, others have said that it is strictly optional - ECU will only throw error codes, others never even mention them.

Is it necessary to do this with a S4 N/A if you do a full removal of all solenoids?

If you remove the plugs from the solenoids on a series four car, there will be no fault codes tripped. No resistors are required.

On a series four, each solenoid has a black/white wire which is a constant batt voltage with the key to ON, so you need to protect them from shorting to gnd and blowing the EGI COMP fuse.

The other wire at each solenod is a ground signal sent from the ECU. I'd protect those also.
